Stroke Awareness
This Stroke Awareness open workshop is designed to equip healthcare and social care professionals with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to effectively support individuals who have experienced a stroke.
The session covers the types, causes, and signs of strokes, including Cerebral Vascular Accidents (CVAs) and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIAs), as well as rehabilitation strategies and the multidisciplinary approach essential for optimal recovery. Participants will explore both the physical and psychological impacts of strokes, gaining insights into person-centred care planning and practical considerations for mobilisation, communication, and long-term support.
This training is applicable to nurses, care workers, therapists, support staff, and anyone involved in the direct or indirect care of stroke survivors. It aims to complement existing workplace policies and procedures, encouraging participants to combine best practice guidance with professional judgement in real-world scenarios to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care.
