Do you teach, supervise, mentor, or manage education in primary care? You can now turn the educational work you already do into nationally recognised Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellowship through a dedicated, guided pathway!
Presented by Professor Russell Hearn (Primary Care Dean | London), this initiative provides a structured, supported route to gain a UK-wide professional standard that stays with you throughout your career.
Who is it for?
Open to all NHS England primary care workforce across all 7 regions—both clinical and non-clinical:
- Doctors, Nurses, & AHPs
- Practice Managers
- Trainers, Supervisors, & Educators
Four Pathways to Fit Your Role:
- AFHEA (Associate Fellow): Newer to teaching or supporting learning (e.g., trainee supervisors).
- FHEA (Fellow): Substantive, ongoing teaching, supervision, and assessment.
- SFHEA (Senior Fellow): Leads, coordinates, or mentors other educators.
- PFHEA (Principal Fellow): Strategic educational leadership locally and nationally.
6-Step Application Process
- Level Checker: Complete a 3-minute self-assessment to identify your recommended Fellowship tier.
- Drafting: Use the online structured editor featuring PSF 2023 framework tagging and built-in word counters.
- Peer Review: Obtain structured feedback from two peer reviewers operating at your target tier.
- Advocate Statements: Referees and advocates submit supporting statements via a secure link.
- Expert Sign-Off: An expert reviewer checks and confirms your application pack is complete and ready.
- Direct Application: Download your final pack and submit directly to Advance HE.
