- Functional Skills L2/GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent. If you do not have this then contact us and we can help get you on a course for this first
- Support from your manager to do this appreticeship and all training involved
- Understanding of the commitment – 1 or 2 days per week at university and two placements each year on the programme.
- A contract for a minimum of 30 hours per week that runs for the duration of the course, at your practice
Duration
The University attendance days and times will vary by institution and course intake.
The working times on your placements may also vary depending on the department area you are placed in during the programme.
The course length is generally 2 years, and you must be in employment for the entire length of the apprenticeship.
Funding
Funding for the learners tuition fees are covered by the apprenticeship scheme and there is an additional training grant available equating to £4,287 per year (correct for the 2026/2027 fiscal year) from NHS England to help support with leaner supervision and learning support payable to the employing practice.
