Welcome to the latest non clinical apprenticeships update. This information page is designed to keep Training Hubs, Practices, PCNs and staff informed of apprenticeship opportunities, funding changes, workforce development initiatives and key resources available to support apprenticeship recruitment and development.

Changes to Apprenticeship Funding

From September 2026, the Government will no longer fund several management and operational apprenticeship standards. This reflects a wider policy shift towards supporting younger people into employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

Examples of non-clinical apprenticeship areas include:

– Business Administration
– Administration Assistant
– Customer Service
– Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The following apprenticeship standards will no longer receive apprenticeship funding from September 2026:

  • Facilities Management Supervisor
  • Improvement Practitioner
  • Improvement Leader
  • Custody and Detention Professional
  • Security First Line Manager
  • Public Sector Compliance Investigator and Officer
  • Cleaning Hygiene Operative
  • Professional Security Operative
  • Outdoor Learning Specialist
  • Coaching Professional
  • Learning and Skills Assessor
  • Learning and Skills Mentor
  • Lead Practitioner in Adult Care
  • Team Leader (Level 3)
  • Operations Manager (Level 5)
  • Chartered Manager (Level 6)

Youth Job Grants

Businesses can receive £3,000 for every eligible young person aged 18 to 24 recruited who has been receiving Universal Credit and seeking employment for six months.

SME Apprenticeship Incentive

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can access a £2,000 incentive payment for each new employee aged 16 to 24 who starts an apprenticeship.

New Level 2 Administrative Assistant Apprenticeship

A new Level 2 Administrative Assistant Apprenticeship Standard is being introduced and will be funded specifically for learners aged 16 to 24.

Every employer wishing to access apprenticeship funding must have a Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account. The platform enables employers to:

  • Manage apprenticeship programmes
  • Add and manage apprentices
  • Reserve apprenticeship funding
  • Approve training provider payments
  • Access levy transfer funding where applicable
  • Monitor apprentice progress and incentives

To create a DAS account you will need:

  • An organisational email address
  • Government Gateway login details, or
  • Your Accounts Office Reference Number and PAYE reference number (where applicable)
  • Agreement to the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Employer Agreement
