GP Assistant Programme

The NW London Training Hub is supporting practices by providing a 7-day programme to compliment the learning within GP practices required to complete the GP Assistant learning competencies.

Please note:

  • The GP Supervisor will still be required to complete the overall sign off for the individuals learning and full competency list.
  • This programme is only open to GP Assistants – It is not for Healthcare Assistants, HCAs or other staff looking to complete the Healthcare support worker programme.
  • This programme is NOT for those GP Assistant who are already on or planned to be on the Structured Education GP Assistant Programme operated by the University of Greenwich & the SE London Training Hub.

Cohort 3 dates are now available, the course will consist of the following training days:
Day 1 – Care Certificate Day 1 of 3 on 24th September 2024 – Remote Session.
Day 2 – Care Certificate Day 2 of 3 on 1st October 2024 – Remote Session.
Day 3 – Care Certificate Day 3 of 3 on 10th October 2024 – Remote Session.
Day 4 – Physiological Measurements Day 1 of 2 on 23rd October 2024 – Remote Session.
Day 5 – Physiological Measurements Day 2 of 2 on 31st October 2024 – Face to Face Session
Day 6 – Phlebotomy on 13th November 2024 – Face to Face Session.
Day 7 – Clinical skills on 28th November 2024 – Face to Face Session.

Note: Face to Face sessions will take place at – Sobus Community Hub – 20 Dawes Road, London SW6 7EN.
The Sobus hub is walking distance – 5 to 10 minutes – from Fulham Broadway Underground Station which is served by the Wimbledon Branch of the District Line (change at Earl’s Court). It has a bus stop directly outside. Buses travel to/from Hammersmith Bus Station.

All sessions must be completed and will be used alongside the NW London Training Hub GP Assistant competency document to complete the learning competencies required for the role.

The remaining training will be completed within your employer practice(s) and/or your PCN to complete the full learning competency lists.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest for the next cohort, no dates have been agreed at this time. Submit your expression of interest in the form below. Information will be collated and the NW London training hub team to provide registration details for the course.

An important reminder that all courses are being funded by the NW London Training Hub. Practices, PCNs, Employers and Employees must plan their time effectively to attend these courses as any DNA’s will be liable by the PCNs/Employers to cover the cost of the course.
