Train to be a General Phlebotomist – Adults (P15B)
We are pleased to be offering ‘Train to be a General Phlebotomist’ course on 16th April and 29th May, PLEASE NOTE YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND BOTH DATES: see further details below:
It is important that if you book this course that you attend and arrive on time; previously staff booking to attend phlebotomy courses have not attended or arrived late; this is a popular course and we will have a waiting list in place.
If the session is fully booked please add your name to the waiting list, you will be contacted if there is a place becomes available.
Who is this aimed at?
The aim is to increase the number of staff working as trained Phlebotomists in general practice and aid in the delivery of the Enhanced Services.
Please note the criteria as follows: –
The course has three parts to be completed over a two-month period.
Before participant’s book onto the course they must ensure that they are able to do all units as follows: –
Unit 1 – Theory
The theory will take place on the 09:00 from 14:00 pm at Cuckoo Lane Health Care Practice.
Unit 2 – Practice based practical sessions
The applicant will need to attend practical sessions at their own practice between 16th April and 29th May; the recommendation is: –
- One session observing a phlebotomy clinic
- Several sessions where the applicant takes bloods with a supervisor present. The number of sessions will be dependent on the confidence of the applicant.
Please note that the practice is responsible for arranging a competent staff member to supervise applicants taking blood.
Unit 3 – Competency Sign Off
The competency sign off is completed by the commissioned training provider who will provide assurance that the applicant can take blood.
- Sign off for assurance will take place in 29th May at Cuckoo Lane Health Centre
- Applicants will arrange their half hour appointment slot with the training provider at the theory session on 16th April
Important Information – Non-Attenders
Commissioned training events will be chargeable to the practice at the full cost of the course for any non-attenders who do not give a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of cancellation.
The cost is calculated against the cost of the course and divided by the allocated places; Non-Attendance for this course will cost: £33.35
