Manosphere – An overview of extreme misogyny online
This briefing will focus on how the messages of online influencers are grounded in different aspects of the online ‘manosphere’.
An overview will be presented of the different elements of the Manosphere – Men’s Rights Activists / Pick Up Artists / Men Going Their Own Way / Incels.
Participants will gain the following knowledge:
- The hierarchical online status of different groups of men will be explained – Sigmas / Alphas / Betas / Omegas.
- The Push and Pull factors for people and the potential appeal of misogynist online influencers will be explored, along with the recent growth in online misogyny.
- The potential links with online extremism.
