Newly Qualified Pharmacist Prescribers Service Vision Survey

Pharmacist undergraduate training is undergoing implementation of reforms to the pharmacy degree and foundation/pre-registration training year to ensure pharmacists join the register with the skills and knowledge required to support current and future clinical services. As part of this, independent prescribing training has been integrated into undergraduate courses. Pharmacists who qualify and join the professional register from 2026 will register as qualified independent prescribers. Further information on this reform work is available here: https://www.hee.nhs.uk/pharmacy/implementing-foundation-pharmacist-training-year-2025-26

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society are reviewing the current post-registration pharmacist training curricula to align with these changes to ensure it supports the training and development of newly qualified pharmacists including in their potential role as prescribers. The purpose of the survey is to capture organisation feedback on future services to inform the new curricula and ensure it meets employers and organisations training needs.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact the RPS at [email protected].

Please follow this link to the newly qualified pharmacist prescribers (NQPPs) service vision survey. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete and your responses will help to guide the development of the updated RPS credentialing curriculum to support the development of NQPPs. We ask that responses are submitted by Friday 16th May 2025.
