Student Nursing Associates
Criteria
- Functional Skills L2 in Maths and English or equivalent. Contact your local college for course dates if you don’t currently meet this requirement.
- Support from your practice partners, management team.
- Understanding of the commitment – 1 or 2 days per week at university and two 4/5 week placements each year on programme. Placements are a reciprocal agreement with acute/community trusts and arranged with the practices. Practices hosting a placement should have a GPN assessor with SSSa course and a mentor (nurse or other practitioner) in post. North West London Training Hub can assist with access to the SSSa course for GPN assessors without this course – this is one afternoon session.
- A contract for a minimum of 30 hours per week that runs for the duration of the course.
Duration
2 years with either 1 or 2 days a week in university. Courses vary depending on the university – attendance hours add up to the same at the end of the course.
Funding
Most GP practices are able to have 100% of the course fees paid for by a levy transfer from a trust facilitated by the Training Hub
- Up to £15,000 apprenticeships levy for the course funds
- PCNs able to claim 100% of the TNA salary through ARRS funding
- £4,000 per year per TNA for the practice/PCN
Levy Funding
As an employer your organisation needs to set up a Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account with the Government. If your organisation has employed an Apprentice previously you may already have an account that someone manages. New update has been issued for employer registration on Apprenticeship Service.
